Slovenia and Austria, as neighbours and friendly countries, have cultivated deep and wide-ranging bilateral relations. The membership of the two countries in the EU has raised co-operation to an even higher, stronger level. Their close partnership and alliance are expressed in virtually every aspect of co-operation. Within the EU, the two countries are of the same opinion on many European policies. Co-operation in the Western Balkans is especially close. In this region, Slovenia and Austria are bound by common interest and efforts to support security and stability. Slovenia supported the Austrian initiative to draft a strategy on the Danube basin and the Black Sea, two regions offering many opportunities, especially for the economies of our two countries. Slovenia is ready to work alongside Austria in bringing this project to fruition.
